Lawrence Taylor latest shamed athlete to lose endorsement

Somewhere, Tiger Woods and Ben Roethlisberger are breathing a sigh of relief.

There’s been a lot of speculation on whether athletes losing sponsorship deals for bad behaviour is news or not. But it’s well worth reporting, for my money.

Following the severed endorsement deals of the aforementioned stars, the latest in what’s becoming a long line of shamed bad boys is Lawrence Taylor, the Hall of Fame linebacker who was dumped today as a spokesperson for NutriSystem.

Taylor, 51, was canned amid allegations he’d raped a 16-year-old girl in New York state earlier this week. The N.Y. Giants great, who may be best known to a generation for appearing on Dancing with the Stars  last year, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing took place.

It isn’t known how much Taylor’s deal with NutriSystem was worth.
