Canadians among laziest people on the planet

Lazy! ...Gimme a break !...There's 33 Million of us running the 2nd biggest country in the world .Not to mention we do it through 6 long months of cold ,winter weather...If you mean lazy as , we're not into the slavedrone labour trade ..Not into,Workin for nothin' ..I'll give you that...Who does these polls?.Oh the Daily beast ..Gossip rag..That explains everything...Lazy ...That's Just ridiculous...

The reason Canadians aren't doing things other then watching TV is because we don't have any Money to go out and do things , unless you mean lazyness by the fact you don't see alot of 40+ year olds out playing street hockey

This is based on watching the most tv.. well yeah canada would be high up there were soo connected. Just because were watching tv doesnt mean were lazy, you can actuallybe doing stuff well watchign tv, such as working out, doing homework, cleaning. This doesnt mean were "lazy" were well connected and liked to be informed on what is going on in the world around us all the time. The new channels always on, were a highly connected country.

I agree, Canadians in general are lazy. I work on the International scene and we could do much, much better abroad. The contract has to be given on a silver platter before Canadians will take it. If it involves working for the contract or , heaven forbid, going to a strange country, that's out of the question. The Chinese, Koreans and Europeans beat us every time. Wake up Canada and start being more competitive.

Totally agree. Watching hockey on TV and drinking beer are the favorite pastimes of Canadians. And let's not forget that labour productivity in Canada is one of the lowest among the developed countries!

I agree with Malcolm Mansfield, i lived most of my life in Asia and when i compare it here, life is dull and slow, people take longer to get things done, kind of fear or just keep it as it is status-quo

Nothing gets our Canadian patriotism going better than when someone dis's us !! One question- how old was the age group that watches the most TV and Internet......12 ? I don't believe we need to globe trot to prove we aren't lazy and where where you "Jersy", when Canada used to have loads of manufaturing in this country?? We can't produce what we no longer are able to make. No wonder China and the like are so busy....they are doing the work we used to.( for peanuts). And if we weren't so picky about things I doubt this counrty would be as great as it is. I agree most our "youth"
could use more exersise these days, but I don't think that has any bering on our nation as a whole regarding our work ethic. Just because some poll says we watch a lot of TV and such, does not mean we don't have our work done.....maybe we are just very efficiant!!

hey come on canadians work like everyone else, and as for malcolm for your comment on abroad listen here we as canadians do alot for others over sea and other country and are good canadian men and women giving thier lives for are country, we gave are all for haiti to help as much as we could, and if your doing international work good for you, and if most could be as helpful and as ready to jump at the oppurtunity to take the chance and work in another country we would but money seems to impeed us at every step and most of us are kept that way. so if they call us lazy let them but who do they come to when everyone needs help money and support thats right , THAT WOULD BE US SO CALLED LAZY CANADIANS!!!!!!! so for the ones calling us lazy here a canadian salute for u,grab me a beer the games is on piss off , lol!!!!!!!!!

If things seem too dull and slow here for you, then why are you living here? Canadians are used to having a lot of " space" to live in so I can see how you might get the feeling things are slow here. When one is used to living in extreemly overcrowded conditions it would seem that there is much going on at all times. I'd rather have things too slow than have to sleep in tiers because there is no room. If you lived most of you life In Asia - how much of Canada have you experienced???? How educated was your reply????

agree, Canadians are very lazy, after work they go home and watch tv, episode after episode while drinking a 2litre bottle of coke. Just look around, 9 overweight people to every skinny person...that says it all.

When i go to the gym I see people circleing around the parking lot for the closest parking spot, I guess they forgot that they are there to exercise in the first place, then they go inside just to talk on their cell phones..a pathetic bunch, I must say.

If we Canadians are so lazy why is it that we get and take the least amount of vacation days per year - compared to other countries??????

I agree that Canadians are lazy. I live in a condo community and it amazes me that people cannot take 90 seconds to pick up the garbage in front of their units. I clean up, on a volunteer basis, the general greenspace area in front of the community where my young 2 kids often play. I also picked up over 150 bags of garbage from narrow strip of treeline adjoining the condo property, once again because I take my 2 young kids there , and I don't want them to think this is normal.

I also worked in an office during the year of the blackouts in Ontario, and could not get anyone in the office to turn off their monitors before they would go home at night. When I started to do it for them, one lady got mad at me and told me to leave it on. These were old-style, energy-hog style monitors.

It shames me that so many Canadians take this country for granted, and lack respect for the land and the animals and plants that live here to.

Why do you live here if your own country is so great ? I suppose there are no "fat" people from where ever it is you come from. And just maybe, watching TV is all we Canadians can afford after taxes. Did you know that paying welfare to foreiners in Canada is a huge burden to our economy. There are more immigrants living off "the system" than Canadians. Some of you people kill me - you come to Canada, get free education, health care. social assistance and all you do is trash talk the country. Who do you think pays for all this - ya- us lazy Canadians. If you are going to come here to live at least have some respect!

lazy eh..hang on here you right wingers, did you not use the internet to do research valid or not. Computers are used here for every business, hotels use retail stores use accounting firms use restauraunts use, tv is used for entertainment and for information purposes constantly to let us know what is going on in the world around us. Canadians use these things as tools, because we use them and they are avaliabe does not make one lazy pal. You would not expect those things in third world countries to use the internet when they still use oxen to plough the feilds now would you.by the way because the canadian dollar is high manufacturing is down so those jobs simply are not there and by the way have ever heard of looking for a job on the internet....

I have to agree. Any country that's high up the socialism ladder will naturally be lazy. Why work hard when the government hands you everything for free?

Like our semi-bigoted friend Malcolm here, I also travel significantly for my job but,unlike Malcolm, I manage to keep perspective on life. I miss Canada when I am travelling - not the TV in Canada - Canada, the country. I disagree 100% with narrow-minded broad generalizations - I have met lots of people in lots of countries and each person, place and situation has some unique aspect to it. Some people/countries do not work overtime because of labour laws, some people/countries take the entire summer months off for vacation - frustrating for my work because I am Canadian and my job does not give me my summer off!

Canada is no more "lazy" than any other nation on Earth and this survey is anything but an empirical collection of data that could be used to draw such ludicrous conclusions! It's just a hype article meant to draw in readers - the real losers here are those of us (like me) who got suckered into reading this kind of non-news to begin with!

Some of you are taking this too personally. I don't think this article has anything to do with "picking up garbage or talking on a call phone at the gym. Some fool compared TV and Internet usage against other countries and wrote an article on it. How accurate can this be?? There are too many siuations to consider for this mean anything. We Canadains know how hard we work. This being said....we lazy Canadians can't have done too badly - 'cause ya all wanna come here to live. ;)

Automation in everything. Fast food and not cooking at home, watching videos and ordering pizza or KFC or chinese food, playing video games a lot, surfing the net, etc. These are all signs of a lazy population. When you automate things, that means you do not do things anymore. It is automated. Companies do that a lot. To save money or to avoid human errors, they automate tasks so now instead of doing things manually, it is automatically done for you. No exactly our fault but the signs of the times. Also most manufacturing jobs already have been shipped to china and asia where labour is cheaper. What can we do? Nothing. We can't control that situation anyways. Most Canadians have to find work so if all the good paying jobs are in computers then there is nothing you can do because sitting in front of the computer is what is paying your bills.

Yes I think that Canadians are lazy because of all the things that go on. People are more interested in drugs that is given out by doctors and selling it. Teenagers are more involved in this because of highly fashions, magazines, and boys. They get carried away by the things that go on all the time such as dropping out of school because of music like rap that not needing education to become a musician or becoming a model or movie star at a young age. They should get adults more involved with society to keep a highly involved in education for children. Its the parents not keeping an eye out for their children even when they get on their late teens which would need discipline. Alot of canadians are lazy too, getting into junk food getting sick from it and gaining wieght from all of this. making harder for people to be strong minded of what to do about this situation. I am only 19 years old but the way I see society its helpless because everyone wants something good in their lifes. Communities are the hardest places to live because of their leaders not really doing a good job on what they need to do as in this community i grew up nothing is here to keep people occupied, and the theft that is always happening. WE NEED HELP IN EVERY WAY!!

We canadians are not lazy on the whole. Many of us work 2 jobs. I am a member of Midland Lions Club and do volunteer work with them as well as working 2 jobs. Several of our members are in their 70s and are still working full-time. If we are fatter than people of other countries then maybe it's because we are so busy working that we don't have any time, money, or energy left over for outside excercise. I think that Malcolm is wrong, period.

Iam a Canadian and have been living in the unites states for 6 years and we are certainly not lazy tha is why us try to get us to come to the us, the americains are very lazy they want something for nothing, and that I mean the are either on food stamps or section 8 and there are lots off jobs but the want to get rich quit, but us canadians work long and hard hours at anything, yo make ends meat. So give me a break in Americia the rich get rich and the poor get poor.Canada is the greatest countre in the world and i cannot wait too get back

Clearly, the average european work week or the average number of holiday days isn't factored into the equation, or the fact that countries like Italy and France lterally shut down for the month of August. As for the time is takes to get things done, every spent any time in the UK, after living there for 5 years and watching construction projects that would be done in 2-3 months in Canada (namely summer) take 2-3 years in the UK. Never mind any of the African countries, I think its incredibly unfair and insulting to say just due to the number of hours of TV and internet Canadians use to say we are the laziest

Maybe providing more work for Canadians will make them less lazy! Also who cares what people do with their spare time it shouldnt be any of your concerns. I watch tv and workout at the same time so what does this prove?

I'm a little bit sad every time I read one of these trash articles, to think this is what journalism has come to. What a load of garbage.
