Online investing is the way of the future
Today we do just about everything from the convenience of our computers.
As a matter of fact, Canadians spend an average of 30 hours per week connecting to the online world.
So it's no wonder that more and more Canadians are investing online too.
Currently, 20 per cent of Canadians are investing online and that number is anticipated to triple within the next decade, according to the report.
The study also determined that people are using the Internet for various activities including reading the news (77 per cent); personal banking (77 per cent); keeping in touch with family and friends (75 per cent); gaming (69 per cent); hobbies (63 per cent); and shopping (61 per cent).
Viki Lazaris, President and CEO, BMO InvestorLine, says, "Canadians clearly are comfortable and have a passion for being online, and the internet is a growing part of their daily lives. Online investing is a natural extension of that, offering investors more control over their portfolios, the ability to monitor their investments 24/7 and access to extensive research and tools."
But before jumping into online investing it is important to research the various online brokerages, their range of services, resources, tools and support.
And of course, if you need help getting online with investing, talk to a professional financial advisor.
