New service lets guys buy fake Facebook girlfriend
Money can buy guys a lot of love on the Internet, though it’s probably not the kind of affection you’d want to show friends and family.
But what if you could pay for the kind of relationship you could broadcast all over Facebook? Like, quite literally, a relationship designed to broadcast all over Facebook.
That’s the premise behind a new Web start-up called Cloud Girlfriend, which lets male Facebook users, for a still-to-be-determined fee, create a female companion that will act as their better half online, posting all the usual sweetnothings partners are known to do on your social network profile page.
Yes, Cloud Girlfriend is real, and while it hasn’t begun just yet, the virtual service has already started a lot of buzz.
CloudGirlfriend.com only leads you to the program’s default page – “Due to high demand we are only able to accommodate a limited number of users to the site. Register early to get in line,” reads a site disclaimer – but details of the proposed initiative have already been revealed online.
According to the site, there are four steps to getting your social network girlfriend: 1) Define your perfect girlfriend, 2) We bring her into existence, 3) Connect and interact with her publicly on your favourite social network, 4) Enjoy a public long distance relationship with your perfect girl.
Site co-founder David Fuhriman is quick to debunk exactly what you’re thinking. “The girlfriend is operated by a real girl. It is not a sex chat or pornography service,” he has said.
Instead, your Cloud Girlfriend would provide with you all the so-called benefits a real companion otherwise would online – public displays of affection, heart emoticons on your Facebook wall, flirtatious video links, whatever.
What value such a relationship might have is up for debate, of course, but some have been quick to point out that similar services have already prospered in Japan.
Plus, as Mashable’s Brenna Ehrlich points out, who knows what the buzz of a fake girlfriend might mean for your chances at nabbing a real one?
“You know what gets the online ladies going? Well, when some other lady is writing all over your Facebook wall,” she says.

No shortage of sluts willing to lie and deceive for money, I guess.

Ah guys, I think it's for publicity sake more than anything. I'm a woman. I think it's a good idea. If everyone is gossiping about a fake relationship, do you care? Meanwhile, you are having a real relationship elsewhere that noone knows about. At least you are now given time to sink roots into a real relationship.

@Clear and Focused..wow bitter much... and I guess there isn't a shortage of men willing to pay to be lied to and deceived.

@ shuffle:
Lets just see how far this service actually gets before we say how many fools are actually going to pay. I'm quite certain that the company paid for this write up as launch-advertising... don't you understand how "journalism" works now - especially at everydaymoney? Besides, does any thinking person actually use facebook anymore? Everyone knows that facebook is a CIA data-mining operation - why do you think they OWN the info you post and wont allow you to delete it. All they do is accept applications for "deactivation". Why do you think they are always changing their privacy policy without notifying their patrons? Facebook is dead. And if you use it, or ever have - chances are, you're a simpleton.

Pathetic

@sunshine... ya get the job... but only if you meet the criteria of being a 250 lbs bon-bon eating heifer... like those cows that chow-down while doing their sexy-kitty routine on the 1-999 or 1-666 or 1-??? numbers. A friend of mine's 15 year old kid ran him up a hefty phone bill, until my buddy kicked his kid's azz and showed him how to use his right hand.
